EcoCert logo

Ecocert® is an inspection and certification body established in France in 1991 by agronomists aware of the need to develop environmentally friendly agriculture and of the importance of offering some form of recognition to those committed to this method of production. From its inception, Ecocert® has specialised in the certification of organic agricultural products.

Certified Vegan logo

Certified Vegan guaranteed not to be tested on animals or to contain ingredients of animal origin. The Logo is administered by The Vegan Awareness Foundation (official name of Vegan Action), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about veganism and to assist vegan-friendly businesses. Vegan is defined as: no animal or animal by-products to include flesh, bones, dairy, eggs, honey, fur, leather, wool, down feathers, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals.

Certified Vegan Vegan Awareness Foundation requires that products approved to carry the Certified Vegan Logo must:

  • Not contain meat, fish, fowl, animal by-products (including silk or dyes from insects), eggs or egg products, milk or milk products, honey or honey bee products.
  • Involve no animal testing of ingredients or finished product by supplier, producer, manufacturer or independent party.
  • Provide supplier verification that animal products were not used in the manufacturing of ingredients.
  • Contain no known animal-derived GMOs or genes used to manufacture ingredients or finished products.

Cruelty free logo

PETA cruelty-free certified given by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), an organization dedicated to defending animal rights. PETA is the largest animal rights organisation in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters. PETA works to stop all animal cruelty and focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely, for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry.

The Humane Standards were developed in the 1990s by leading international animal protection organisations. In the USA and Canada it is managed by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. Together we work with manufacturers and distributors to end animal testing in the supply chain. The ‘cruelty-free’ certification scheme allows and encourages manufacturers across the supply chain to:

  • Offer ethical shoppers a wider choice of products Explore non-animal alternatives
  • Support efforts to finally end animal testing for cosmetics and household products

FSC logo

FSC certification (Forest Stewardship Council) ensuring that paper production is made of the wood derived from reforested areas and other controlled sources, and assuring respect for the environment and for workers. The FSC Principles and Criteria provide a foundation for all forest management standards globally, including the FSC US National Standard (v1.0) that guides forest management certification in the U.S.

Fair Trade Certified

Fair Trade Certified requires rigorous protection of local ecosystems and ensures that farmers receive a harvest price, which will allow them to practice sustainable agriculture and eventually transform into an organic agriculture for a better environment.

Our certification gives consumers the confidence that every purchase has a real impact in farmers’ lives. The Fair Trade certification model is designed and audited to ensure equitable trade practices at every level of the supply chain. To earn a license from Fair Trade USA to use the Fair Trade Certified label on their products, companies must buy from certified farms and organizations, pay Fair Trade prices and premiums and submit to a rigorous supply chain audits. This process entails a high level of transparency and traceability in their global supply chains. Today, our partner companies range from small, mission-driven coffee roasters to some of the largest transnational corporations in the world.

CosmeBio logo

COSMEBIO is the Professional Association for Natural, Ecological and Organic cosmetics. Since 2002, Cosmebio has been working to promote natural and ecological cosmetics made with ingredients from organic farming and developed using green technologies (green chemistry). The Cosmebio label aims to guarantee the commitment of manufacturers to provide consumers with genuine ecological and organic products which comply with the technical and ethical criteria in the founding Charter.

Established in 2005, The Gluten-Free Certification Organization (GFCO), an industry program of the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG), is dedicated to providing certification services to producers of gluten-free products using quality assessment and control measures throughout production, in order to provide assurance to consumers of the safety of their products.

ISO 22716 is the standard describing the Cosmetics Good Manufacturing Practices. It has been written in collaboration with cosmetics industry professionals and promotes best-in-class methods. The scope of ISO 22716 is not only limited to production activities but also includes control, storage and expedition. These guidelines cover the quality aspects of the product.

Beat the Micro Bead logo

We support the Beat the Micro Bead campaign. Surya Brasil helps raise awareness of a new international campaign to help save our waters by Banning the Microbead. These tiny particles of plastic have been polluting our waters and choking our fish for quite some time. We use natural ingredients in our Amazonia Preciosa Shower Gel Scrub, Sapien Men Facial Scrub and Sapien Women Face and Body Scrubs.

Leaping Bunny logo

The Leaping Bunny Program connects compassionate consumers to companies that have pledged to end animal testing. They certify cosmetic, personal care, and household products as cruelty-free, ensuring companies are not testing on animals during any stage of product development. Managed by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics (CCIC), the program offers the most up-to-date list of companies that are not engaged in animal testing.

Kosher logo

Since 1935, The Ok Kosher Certification provides the highest standard of kosher certification services in the world, built on a deep level of trust between manufacturers, producers and consumers. Products that meet “The OK” approval comply with a strict policy of kosher food laws, including cleanliness, purity and quality. Surya Brasil vegan lip balms have no wheat derived ingredients, hence they can be also used during Passover.


Surya Brasil is a member of the Brazilian Trade Association for Natural Products and Well-Being brings together companies that market natural products with environmental responsibility.
